I spent the afternoon at the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park. The dahlia garden is in full bloom and it's spectacular! If you want to be surrounded by color and beautiful blooms, it's a must-see.
Seeing Art Where You Are
What do you call art? How do you define it? I believe that art is all around us. It's in nature, in books, in the faces of those we love, in our hearts, on the streets, on the walls—everywhere we look and everywhere we are. Just look around and you will see it. Join me on Instagram @katjaollendorff and share your vision of what art is #artwhereyouare.
Perfect Light
I was driving down the street heading to Ocean Beach for my weekend walk, and out of the corner of my eye I saw this amazing blue color. I had to circle back so I could take a picture. If the light hadn't been hitting it just so, I probably would have driven right by.
Gung Hay Fat Choy!
My new walk to work takes me through Chinatown and it is such a change from my quiet jaunt down Bush Street. Yesterday, I saw live fish being delivered off a truck, women selling vibrant red gladiolas and cherry blossom branches, fruit stands being loaded up. The sights, sounds, and smells are so unique. It's definitely a different way to wake up in the morning! I just love the red and orange everywhere as they begin celebrations of the New Year of the Horse 4712.
Sunset on Ocean Beach
It was my father's birthday a few days ago and I always like to honor him in a place that makes me smile. No better place than Ocean Beach at sunset. Missing you every day, Dad.
Ornamental SF
I walk through Nob Hill on my way to work every morning and have recently been struck by the amazing detail on some of the older buildings in the neighborhood. One usually thinks of Victorian homes when mentioning San Francisco, but there is so much more!
Pastel City
It's that time of year...pink bunnies and yellow peeps. This city lends itself well to the colors of the season. Happy Easter!
Saturday in the Mission
I spent the day wandering around the Mission with friends and I barely recognized it. So many new restaurants and shops, not to mention a new slew of ultra hip people. I guess I need to get out of the house more often so I can keep up! Although things have changed so much over the last few years, the walls and streets are still bursting with color—same as ever!
Clement Street Walk
Is that on sale? Is this a book store? I don't know what these signs say, but the characters sure are pretty. I love how different neighborhoods exude certain colors—Clement Street has vibrant pops of gold, orange and pink.
Colorful Sunday
One of my favorite things to do in the city is to get up early and head down to Ocean Beach for a long walk. Who could complain with weather like this in February! This past Sunday was particularly colorful.
